RIGHTS Inc. has been in service for decades in more than 200,000 hectares which is also significantly affected by the severe impact of climate change.

This inevitable situation creates a new dimension of struggles for the government's humanitarian assistance, corporate-led tourism, land grabbing, disaster capitalism where massive violation of rights was undoubtedly apparent. At the same time, commercial farming remains a major disaster not just among farmers but also for Mindanao's health and environment. This situation is exacerbated by anti-reform and new normal policies, which are highly inclined to marginalize poor sectors further. The rural poor's intervention with a focus on land tenure security will therefore serve as the foundation of rural empowerment, sustainable development, and lasting peace in the countryside.

Through past interventions, there was a radical restructuring of power relations in some areas through partial but significant break up of oppressive hacienda structures in rural poor communities. Also, an increase in incomes in reformed areas materialized yet is not sufficient to significantly impact the lives of the peasants by a qualitative leap from poverty. This is because the level of productivity in many reformed lands remains stagnant due to the failure of the peasant poor in developing and managing land resources, they won through struggle sustainably. Moreover, many beneficiaries have not enhanced their capacity to access market and finance capital to develop agricultural/agriculture-based small and medium enterprises to increase their incomes. They need to be continually nurtured into self-sustaining, economically and politically empowered, and socially responsible rural communities.

Along with these, RIGHTS Inc. was also able to extend its services along the Yolanda corridor. It was able to implement various projects for humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, it displayed a commitment to pursuing a campaign against disaster-led capitalism.

Boldly, RIGHTS joins with the people in combat with onerous corporations whereby synergizing by way of coordinating the initiatives of grassroots-based organizations in addressing poor humanitarian assistance, land-based social conflict, and rural poverty within the broader agrarian reform, rural development, and democratization initiatives.

Rural poverty eradication was addressed through land reform, land productivity improvement, market participation, capacity-building programs, and access to research and technology. On the other hand, rural democratization will continue to promote rural citizens' demand for accountable governance, direct participation, access to justice, and respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.
